Koostöös valminud lõputöö kirjalikus osas uurisime rinnavähki põdenud naiste ja transinimeste vajadusi rinnatarvikute järele. Sellest lähtuvalt sõnastasime lõputöö kaks eesmärki. Esiteks: selgitada välja, miks on mastektoomiajärgsed tooted vajalikud rinnavähki põdenud naistele nii füüsiliselt kui ka vaimselt. Teiseks: uurida, millised on transinimeste personaalsed vajadused ja soovid rinnatarvikute osas. Töö praktilises pooles oli eesmärk luua minapilti ja soolist identiteeti toetav aksessuaarikollektsioon. Kaasasime kollektsiooni disainiprotsessi ka uuritavate kogukondade liikmeid, kellega tegime intervjuud.
Lõputöös uuris rinnavähiga seonduvaid teemasid Birgit Peerna ja transinimesi Moolen Veering. Kollektsioonist tegi lõpetaja Karmel Kull fotoseeria, mis on ühtlasi osa tema lõputööst „Moefoto seeria BRAH”.
In the written part of the collaborative thesis, we investigated the needs for breast accessories among women who have had breast cancer and transgender individuals. Based on this, we formulated two main objectives for the thesis. Firstly, to identify why post-mastectomy products are necessary for women who have had breast cancer, both physically and mentally. Secondly, to explore the personal needs and desires of transgender individuals regarding breast accessories. The practical part of the work aimed to create an accessory collection that supports self-image and gender identity. We involved members of the researched communities in the design process of the collection and conducted interviews with them.
The thesis examined breast cancer-related topics by Birgit Peerna and transgender issues by Moolen Veering. The graduate, Karmel Kull, created a photo series of the collection, which is also part of her final project “Fashion Photography Series BRAH”.
