Lõputöö keskmes on 19. sajandil valmistatud vene ampiiri mõjutustega vitriinkapp, mille uurimisel tulid ilmsiks mitmed märkimisväärsed konstruktsioonimuudatused. Kirjeldatud on eseme muutumislugu. Lisaks kapile arutletakse konstruktsioonimuudatuste üle erinevate näidete varal, mis tuginevad muu hulgas mööbliajaloole ja mööbliosakonna aastatepikkusele restaureerimispraktikale. Töös mõtestatakse lahti, miks konstruktsiooni muudetakse, ja kirjeldatakse erinevaid olukordi, millega seoses muutub tihti eseme funktsioon. Teema on mööblirestauraatori jaoks oluline ‒ konstruktsiooni ei peaks muutma kergekäeliselt, kuivõrd eseme autentsuse tagab just algupärane konstruktsioon. Lõputöö praktilises osas restaureeriti vitriinkapp olulisemaid muudatusi säilitades.
At the heart of the final thesis is a display cabinet with Russian Empire style influences made in the 19th century, the examination of which revealed several significant design changes. The story of the change of the object is described. In addition to the cabinet, design changes are discussed on the basis of various examples, which are based on, among other things, the history of furniture and the years of restoration practice of the furniture department. The thesis explains why the design is changed and describes various situations in which the function of an object often changes. The subject is important for a furniture restorer – the construction should not be changed lightly, as the authenticity of the object is ensured by the original construction. In the practical part of the final thesis, the display case was restored, preserving the most important changes.
