Lõputöö teema on transpordipuur kassidele.

The thesis consists of two parts: a written part and a practical part. In the first part, a qualitative research method was used, during which data were collected through extensive surveys, studies and visual materials.  In the second part a transport cage for cats was created based on the results of the study.
Cats perceive their surroundings differently than humans, which means that it is often difficult to understand their behaviour and preferences. In order to understand the nature of the cats and their behavioural patterns, the first chapter of the written part examined the history of cats among pets and the relationship between cats and human beings.
The second part of the thesis was focusing on research. In order to better understand the concept of the transport cage, the author examined different products available on the market, interviewed the given target group and analyzed potential users’ expectations and needs. The proportion of cats among pets is growing and this can be expected to increase the demand for cats’ products included transport cages. Furthermore, there is a constant need for higher quality and more aesthetically pleasing products.
The third chapter of the thesis was dealing with practical work. The results of the survey and the characteristics of the study were used during the design developing process. Sketching and modeling resulted in a form that not only met the daily needs of users (both cats and cats’ owners) but also enabled easier transportation. As cats like to have an overview of the territory from the heights, the possibility to install the cage on the wall was created. In addition, to reduce stress in the cat and to provide an opportunity to mark their territory, a scratching surface was added. The ready-made product model was custom-made out of a metal frame and plywood.
