Lõputöö eesmärgiks oli laste pedaalidega mänguauto konserveerimine, et tulevikus museaali eksponeerida Tartu Mänguasjamuuseumi uues püsiekspositsioonis. Väljakutset pakkus mänguauto puuduv rooli ja pedaalimehhanism ning selle jooniste leidmine, mis oli suur läbimurre ning aitab täiendada Tartu Mänguasjamuuseumi eseme kirjalikke andmeid.
Mänguautode tausta paremaks mõistmiseks uurisin nende ajalugu ja kaardistasin muuseumite ning kollektsionääride esemekogud. Kuna Eestis sarnaste mänguautode kohta infot napib, siis tõin näiteid ka mujalt maailmast, eesmärgiga leida seoseid ja mõjutusi mänguautode arengu kohta. Uurimustöö tulemusena selgus, et tegemist on Eestis omalaadse ja unikaalse
käsitööna valmistatud autoga, mille sarnasid on vaid mõned üksikud.
Lõpptulemusena konserveerisin laste pedaalidega mänguauto, teostasin eseme taustauuringud ja kaardistasin sarnased mänguasjad lõputöös loetletud allikate põhjal ning andsin laiema ülevaate laste mänguautode arengust.
The aim of this thesis was to conserve a kids’ pedal car to expose the item at Tartu Toy museum stationary exhibition. The missing steering wheel mechanism and pedal mechanism of the car deemed to be
a challenge. Getting the drawings of the mechanisms of the car was a huge breakthrough which helps to complement the written materials of the item in Tartu Toy Museum. To understand the background of pedal cars better, I studied their history and mapped the collections of museums and
collectors. Since there is a lack of information about similar cars in Estonia, I brought examples from other countries in the world to find relations and influences regarding the development of toy cars. The research revealed
that this car is handmade in Estonia and it is very special and unique, since there only exist a few similar cars.
As a final result, I conserved a kids’ pedal car, conducted background research of the item, mapped similar toys on the basis of listed materials in the thesis and gave a broader overview of the development of toy cars.
