Teema valikuni viis mind huvi taaskasutatavate materjalide vastu ja tahe tegutseda jätkusuutliku moeloojana. Üha suurenev probleem on tekstiiliprügi, mida tekib iga päev juurde sadades tuhandetes tonnides. See on põhjus, miks järjest enam tuleks kasutada olemasolevaid materjale.
Eesmärgiks sai autolammutustes üle jäävast auto turvapatjade tekstiilist rõivaste loomine. Uurisin materjali potentsiaali ringdisainis, otsides seni avastamata kangale kasutusvõimalusi ja tutvustades seda rõivamoe kontekstis.
Rõivastele annab pika eluea tugev materjal. Turvapadja materjal on hüdrofoobne ja tuulekindel ning seetõttu üleriideks sobiv. Kangas koosneb sünteetilistest kiududest ning seda on võimalik taaskasutada ja aina uuesti ümber töödelda.
The choice of topic was driven by my interest in recyclable materials and my desire to work as a sustainable fashion designer. There is a growing problem of textile waste, which is generated in hundreds of thousands of tonnes every day. This is why existing materials should be used more and more.
The goal was to create clothing from car airbag textiles harvested at scrapyard. I researched the potential of this material in circular design, looking for uses for hitherto undiscovered fabric and introducing it in the context of fashion.
The strong material gives the garments a long life. The material of the airbag is hydrophobic and windproof and is therefore suitable for outerwear. The fabric is made of synthetic fibers and can be reused and recycled over and over again.
