Maagiliste karakterite loomine animatsioonile „Vanapagan ja Kibu“ on vaade concept art’i maailma. Loovtöö eesmärk oli tuua suurema publiku ette algsed ideed värvilistest karakteritest, kes on inspireeritud Eesti mütoloogiast, lootes äratada huvi Eesti mütoloogia ja ajaloo vastu.
Lõputöö raames valmis illustratsioonide seeria, millega püüdsin anda edasi karakterite algset iseloomu ja tunnet.
Lõputöö kirjalikus osas vastasin küsimusele „Mis on concept art?“, sukeldusin natuke sügavamale vanapagana mütoloogiasse, kuidas minu vanapagan erineb või sarnaneb muinasjuttudest leiduvatele vanapagana arhetüüpidele, ning kirjeldan concept art’i loomise töökäiku.
Creating magical characters for the animation ”Vanapagan and Kibu” (The Old Heathen and Piggin) offers a glimpse into the world of concept art. The goal of the creative work was to bring early designs of colorful characters—rooted in Estonian mythology—into the public eye, with the hope of sparking greater interest in Estonian myth and history.
As part of the final project, I produced a series of illustrations that aim to capture the initial personality and mood of the characters.
In the written portion of the work, I explored the question “What is concept art?”, delved into the Old Heathen’s mythological background, examined how my interpretation of the Old Heathen differs from or resembles archetypes found in traditional tales, and documented the process of creating concept art.
